Who are we?
We are tour operators. We are the staff within these businesses. We are the segment the Premier/Tourism Minister dismissed as a small part of sector that only caters to interstate and international tourists! We beg to differ.
We are the foundation, the cornerstone of the tourism industry. We are the reason tens of thousands of people visit South Australia each year. Collectively we spend many tens of thousands of dollars marketing and promoting South Australia. Collectively we have tens of thousands of Excellent reviews on travel platforms generating outstanding word of mouth for South Australia. Collectively we can make a difference.
Our Goal
With the state election coming up in mid 2022 it gives us a opportunity to make genuine change for our segment of the tourism industry and the industry as a whole.
I have become increasingly frustrated at the direction of tourism in general. Small passionate family businesses make up the majority of tourism product in South Australia. The top 20 tourism operators on TripAdvisor are all smaller family run businesses. Do we have a voice on the SATC board? Do we have a seat at the table when decisions are made about our future?
Does the Premier/Tourism Minister even know we exist?
We want to fight for the small guys. The ones who don't get a say in what happens to our businesses and employees when we're locked down or restricted due to Covid-19.
